It’s a No-Brainer: Why Charlotte Raised $18,000 for Stroke Aotearoa New Zealand
In 2023, Charlotte Koers held a fundraising quiz night and raised $12,700 for Stroke Aotearoa New Zealand. In 2024, she did it again, raising another $5300.

Below, Charlotte explains what made her want to host a fundraiser for Stroke Aotearoa New Zealand.
Why was it important for you to host this event and raise money for the Stroke Foundation?
It was important for me to host the It's a No-Brainer Quiz Night as I unfortunately know what stroke can take from families. In 2022, my father died from a stroke. I was clueless at the time about F.A.S.T., what a stroke was, or how serious they were. This motivated me to try and increase the awareness and knowledge in the community about stroke, and try and raise some crucial funds for an important foundation.
I wanted to raise money to help survivors and their families navigate the difficulties of life after a stroke, and so it was important to me to incorporate learning about stroke into an event that brought the community together. Furthermore, I wanted to help illustrate the work of the Stroke Foundation and the significance of stroke and how common they are in the community, raising awareness that it can truly happen to anyone.
How does it make you feel knowing that your event raised over $5000 for stroke survivors and their whānau?
I am so proud to say that I have been able to raise this amount of money, alongside the funds from the 2023 It's a No-Brainer Quiz night. Not only am I proud to aid in raising crucial funds, I also feel proud that I have been able to increase awareness of the Stroke Foundation and information regarding strokes, what they are, and how to look out for the signs and symptoms.
It is an absolute privilege to work alongside the Stroke Foundation team, and the community to help in any way I can to increase awareness and help stroke survivors and their families with the funds raised, and I look forward to continuing these efforts in the near future.
