The Lived Experience Advisory Panel (LEAP) was formed in 2023 to bring expert lived experience knowledge to the centre of Stroke Aotearoa New Zealand’s work, extending across the stroke continuum. LEAP members are a diverse group of stroke survivors, carers, and family members, representing gender, culture, age, and location. The Panel represents the interests and viewpoints of stroke survivors, carers, and whānau across Aotearoa and provides lived experience leadership to Stroke Aotearoa to influence debate, and advance policy and evidence-based, best practice, service delivery.
LEAP has a direct line to Stroke Aotearoa New Zealand's Board of Directors, and is co-chaired by one of the directors. LEAP serves to support our commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and address the inequitable health outcomes experienced by tangata whenua, leading to improved health outcomes for Māori.
